Healthy, Pleasurable Alternatives to Plastic Surgery for Looking Good and Staying Youthful

Our society’s preoccupation with fighting the effects of aging is nothing new. The figure I found during a google search is 16.7 billion dollars spent annually on plastic surgery.

This doesn’t include the cosmetics industry with it’s infinite array of creams and serums and potions.

A lot of our time and energy is devoted to looking younger and looking good.

In this blog, I’d like to tell you about an easier and healthier way to look youthful, radiant, and it feels a lot better too.

I call this my Refresh Facial. It consists of a relaxing and luxuriating blend of 3 different components beginning with cosmetic acupuncture.

In cosmetic acupuncture we use very fine needles in the face which help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.  It also helps to bring more vitality and chi to the face. To balance and make sure it isn’t too much heat, we’ll also add a few needles to a few strategic points on the body.

(Of course, if you are averse to needles, we can omit this part and do more gua sha - non-invasive and feels great!)

While the acupuncture needles are working their magic, I will massage your neck and scalp to help bring about more relaxation and release.

After this, is gua sha.

Gua Sha is a facial massage that uses oils and a combination of crystals, rollers, and hands to increase blood flow to the face and energize and relax the face and the entire body.

Most people are unaware of how much tension they typically hold in their faces until they are instructed to relax or they are experiencing a massage where they finally let some of this go.

(Try this now - see if you can relax your eyes a little more. Relax the jaw. Let the gums loosen from your teeth a little bit. Most probably there was some tension you discovered that you were able to drop!)

When giving a gua sha treatment, I like to pay particular attention to the cheekbones and jawline - both areas that people like to have more definition in as we tend to associate these areas with beauty. People tend to think it is the appearance of wrinkles that makes us look older, it’s actually the sunken and hollow cheeks that begin to appear. When you have a practice of regular gua sha, you maintain the plumpness of the cheeks.

I will also work quite a bit with the temples and area beside the eyes to bring more lift and reduce the appearance of wrinkles here. It also helps a great deal in reducing the eye tension that is common these days from so much gazing at screens.

It’s apparent to see the difference even after just one session.

Finally, we complete with a collagen face mask and additional massage.

Clients emerge feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and radiant. Many like to set up regular appointments to keep on a schedule and to grow the benefits of the treatment. The more you do it, the better you look and the better you feel.

For this reason, I’m happy to offer special packages for multiple facials.

If you are in the Toronto area and interested in setting up a gua sha appointment, or in learning more, please contact me to make an appointment.
