Acupuncture is an effective, natural, and increasingly popular form of health care and is being used by people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds.

Acupuncture is the insertion of thin, fine needles at specific points along the body meridians or channels. As these points are stimulated, the pathways are unblocked and the body’s natural healing response can take place.

The World Health Organization recognizes acupuncture and Chinese medical modalities as safe and effective methods of medical treatment.

Cosmetic Acupuncture, also known as Facial Rejuvenation, is a safe, gentle, and natural anti-aging practice to enhance beauty and wellbeing.

Although it may sound like a relatively new idea, Cosmetic Acupuncture is supported by almost 5000 years of documentation and has since then been refined and developed into a practice we can bring to modern times. Very fine needles, made especially for use on the face, are used to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin and achieve a firming effect to the face.

The treatment can be used to assist in:
• softening lines and wrinkles
• lifting sagging areas
• increasing firmness
• boosting blood circulation

In short, it helps you achieve that bright, even and glowing skin that everyone dreams of having. While working specifically on your face, it also addresses and expresses a beneficial effect on your health and the whole body.

Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) has been used as a form of treatment for a multitude of ailments ranging from acute infections to chronic fatigue. Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine consists of some 6,000 substances derived from plant, animal and mineral sources, each with its own unique property and specific effect on the body.

A unique formula of precise herbs and quantities is prescribed for each person based upon the ‘four techniques diagnosis’ which includes analysis of the pulse and the tongue.

A snapshot of conditions typically treated with Chinese herbal medicine includes:

Insomnia and fatigue, appetite loss and common digestive disorders, constipation and diarrhea, IBS, common cold and influenza, chronic headaches, skin disorders, fluid retention, anxiety, depression and stress, allergies, rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, PMS and painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea), excessive menstruation (menorrhagia), infertility, impotence and prostate disorders, disorders associated with menopause.

In addition to providing effective treatment for a wide range of health disorders, Chinese herbal medicine may also be used to assist with general health maintenance and disease prevention. By strengthening and enhancing normal body functions, the immune system is boosted and a general sense of well-being promoted.

Gua Sha (pronounced ‘gwa sha’), in the advanced way that I offer it, helps move lymphatic fluids and soothe tension in the facial muscles. It involves facial lifting and massaging under the bones. This translates to improved blood flow and less puffiness. The increase in circulation increases hydration for that coveted youthful glow, and it even helps the skin to naturally purge blemish-causing dirt and oils.

Gua Sha facial treatment involves gliding a flat jade or rose quartz stone over the entire face and neck in upward strokes to relax stiff muscles and promote tissue drainage. It is done with a light, gentle touch that leaves the skin healthy and glowing. Even after the first treatment, you will feel rejuvenated. After a few sessions, results will be even more noticeable.

In addition to the beauty benefits of a gua sha facial regimen (which also includes creating a more defined looking jawline, tighter pores, and balancing skin discolouration), there are a number of health benefits.

The health benefits include improvement with sinusitis, reduction of scar tissue, lessening of TMJ tension, and an improved blood flow and lymphatic circulation.

Shiatsu is a gentle, deep and powerful Japanese healing art which literally translated means finger pressure. It affects the same points and meridians worked on as in Acupuncture to re-establish flow of energy and well-being but uses a method of pressure through touch, comfortable pressure, and manipulative techniques. In this way, Shiatsu adjusts the body’s physical structure and also balances its energy flow providing psychological, emotional, and spiritual benefits.

Regular Shiatsu treatments help treat fatigue, relieves stress, reduces muscular soreness, joint pain, headaches, backaches, insomnia. It also strengthens the immune and circulatory system.
It is a deeply relaxing experience, akin to a massage, however in Shiatsu treatments the client remains fully clothed.
